Nathan - 1st Grade

I promise I will get garden updates posted soon! Oh, and our Memorial weekend trip! I have been slacking.. I'm sorry for that! I will get better soon! Promise!

I was cleaning up some things in my "to keep" box and came across 2 stories Nathan wrote and wanted to share.
Look at how much Nathan grew up during the school year!
I love this boy!!

Here is a short story he wrote about our Christmas Elf, Colt!

See his name?? Anthony was so proud!
"What did you do Elf?"
"On Mon Day My Elf Put Toolit Paper oran on my roof."
"On Tosday My Elf Duh all my underwar an my soks"

Here is his other story.... Written and Illustrated by: Nathan

Nathan is already ready for 2nd grade! He tells me all the time how he wishes he was at school during the summer! Our goal this summer is to read 2 chapter books. We have started with Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules and will finish with Big Nate In a Class by Himself
What books are you or your kids reading this summer? I'm always looking for recommendations for myself or for Nathan.

As I said before, I promise to post some garden updates soon. We did eat some purple pull peas for dinner tonight... they were delish!!

Happy Birthday to my baby boy!

June 8, 2009 9lbs 4oz 20 3/4"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON DAVID!

You have brought so much joy into our lives!

Once you warm up to everyone in the room you are determined to become the center of attention.

You are mommy's cuddle bug. And daddy's too.

There is nothing better than coming into your room in the morning and you say "Hi mama.. Hi mama!"

I have loved the past 2 years getting to know you and your personality. I see a lot of your brother in you, but you also have very distinct Jackson only traits too!

You are learning so many new things so fast. I will treasure these days forever.

God has big plans for your future Jackson. Always look to Him!

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Psalm 37:23

Why God Made Little Boys

Author: Unknown
God made the world out of His dreams
Of magic mountains, oceans and streams,
Prairies and plans and wooded land,
Then paused and thought "I need someone to stand
On top of mountains, to conquer the seas,
Explore the plains and climb the trees.
Someone to start out small and to grow,
Sturdy, strong as a tree…" And so,
He created boys, full of spirit and fun,
To explore and conquer, to romp and run.
With dirty faces and banged up chins,
With courageous hearts and boyish grins.
When He had completed the task He'd begun
He surely said "A job well done".

He was so excited about his new movie!

mmmmm cake....

Always wanting to be outside. And NEVER too far from his "illow"

See... can't leave home without it!

1st birthday!

First Christmas!

Daddy's Boy!!

We love you Jackson!!

Gardening isn't easy but, it sure is fun!

Our garden hasn't done nearly as well as we had hoped. The green beans didn't get taller than 4-5". The zucchini only grew about 3". Only 1 squash plant has produced.

We have been able to pick about 10 tomatoes, 4 okra, 1 pickling cucumber, 10 purple hulls, 2 Anaheim peppers and 1 Lima bean pod.

Today we had a lot of purple hulls ready. A Lima bean pod, an okra and a few tomatoes.

Days like today are why we like having a garden! Our fall garden should be much better than the spring garden. And next year's spring garden should be AWESOME!
